The Michael H. Epstein & Scott E. Schwimer collected works of glamour photography, fine art photography and contemporary art is one of the world's most unique. The compilations convey impeccable style and beauty that will stand the test of time.

California Boys is a sold-out book of Mel Roberts' work. Following Roberts; passing, Epstein and Schwimer became the owners of the Roberts photography estate, which includes thousands of his vintage prints; a number of his finest prints will be offered in this sale.

The Epstein and Schwimer collected works include some of the most important names in photography, such as George Hurrell, Clarence Sinclair Bull, Ruth Harriet Louise, James Manatt, Laszlo Willinger, Otto Dyar, Eugene Richee, Ernest Bachrach, Elmer Fryer, Ray Jones, Hal Phyfe, Nickolas Muray, as well as Richard Avedon, Cecil Beaton, Bruno Bernard, Marcus Leatherdale, Robert Mapplethorpe, Helmut Newton, Man Ray, Herb Ritts, Cindy Sherman, Jock Sturges, and Howard Zieff. Moreover, the collection contains an incomparable assemblage of Len Prince and Mel Roberts work as well as fine art by Andy Warhol, Richard Duardo, Keith Haring, Robert Indiana, Roy Lichtenstein, Beatrice Wood and numerous others.

Epstein and Schwimer recently decided to open up their vaults and for the first time will be selling their collected photographic and fine art masterpieces to benefit many of the charitable organizations they passionately support, primarily the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center on which Epstein served as a board member for 7 years.

Epstein comments, "It's time for Scott and me to share the fruits of our 25-year collection with the rest of the world.  We want others to enjoy and embrace the most rewarding field of collecting which we can ever imaging being involved." Epstein continues, "There is no better organization than Profiles in History to entrust our collection. I am certain that Scott and I will be back collecting once this auction is over."

Labels: , ,

For Immediate Release

The single most iconic piece of Michael Jackson memorabilia in the world is emblazoned with bugle beads and Austrian crystal rhinestones and fitted with 50 small lights

Calabasas, CA, July 1, 2009— Michael Jackson’s iconic illuminating white glove, adorned with crystals from his “Suit of Lights” worn on stage during The Jackson’s Victory Tour will be put up for auction by Profiles in History, the top auction house in the world for selling Hollywood memorabilia. The glove, the single most iconic piece of Michael Jackson memorabilia in the world, was specially designed by Ted Shell of Ted Shell Designs in 1984 and is emblazoned with bugle beads and Austrian crystal rhinestones and fitted with 50 small lights powered by a single 9v battery placed in the cuff of the glove. The glass light bulbs were wired on separate circuits making them twinkle at random for added visual impact on stage. The glove, along with several other Michael Jackson items will be available as part of Profiles in History’s next auction, set for October 1 and 2, 2009.

There were only two of the illuminating gloves made for use by Michael Jackson on The Victory Tour and Michael gifted this glove to Ted Shell in 1986. The glove is accompanied with a signed letter of authenticity by Shell as well as a signed letter by Judie Mallen of L.A. Marquee Special Lighting Effects who installed the lights in the glove for the tour.

“Michael Jackson was the undisputed King of Pop. This glove, used at the zenith of his career, is the most symbolic piece of his on-stage legacy, as he will always be remembered as the 'gloved one'—one of the greatest cultural icons of the 20th century. This glove is the ultimate piece of Jackson's performance memorabilia in the world. It is truly priceless,” said Joe Maddalena, president of Profiles in History.

Profiles in History plans to display the glove at their booth at Comic Con so fans will have the opportunity to view this iconic piece of entertainment history.
